The Post Graduate Certificate in Executive Coaching provides all that. Based at the University of Strathclyde it provides customised development to assist in the next stage of your own development as a professional coach.

Who is the Course aimed at?
This Postgraduate Course is aimed at those wishing to become familiar with a range of coaching theories and approaches and to develop a recognized set of skills and expertise in executive coaching. The course is particularly appropriate if you are interested in:
• ' Developing your expertise in the area of executive coaching;
• Evaluating your own practice of executive coaching;
• Providing more expert knowledge and advisory capacity to
employers;
• Developing a deeper, more empirical and more critical understanding
of executive coaching;
• Advancing your level of academic achievement in executive
coaching
It is suitable for experienced coaches and those with significant expertise in related-human resource development who wish to develop the art of coaching whilst getting to grips with the intellectual and academic aspects of the subject.
During the course you will:
• Learn and develop your coaching skills further within a
small group and be involved with an evolving community of practice
• Improve your credibility by being accredited to the highest
standards and earn a greater professional reputation in executive
coaching
• Investigate alternative models for coaching
• Be able to make informed choices about using various coaching
models and practices and their different approaches and ethos
• Increase your knowledge of the subject and have greater
academic rigour in your practice.
• Accredit your competence as a coach against the competencies
used to develop European Coaching and Mentoring Standards
• Receive 1:1 coaching on your own development in coaching
Entry Qualifications
Entry requirements will normally be:
• an initial qualification which is a first degree in a business
or human science subject of a University or other Higher Education
Institution; OR
• a relevant professional qualification; OR
• appropriate management experience; OR
• several years' experience in coaching and coaching related
activities; OR
• clear demonstration of career relevance
Our aim is to be flexible with regard to entry while ensuring that participants have the seniority and commitment to succeed at this level.
In addition, it is recommended that you should have undertaken an introductory course in coaching and/or have significant experience in using coaching techniques in a work situation. Information about appropriate introductory courses is available from the Centre for Lifelong Learning Accreditation of Prior Learning
Attendance at all the residential weekends is required but exemption from certain of the assessments may be available depending on your current coaching qualifications. Please contact the Centre for Lifelong Learning for further advice on this matter.

Programme overview
The programme is structured around participation, part-time, in three module over one year.
Module I Executive
Coaching Concepts and Methods
Module 2 Executive
Coaching Perspectives
Module 3 Mastering
Executive Coaching
Module 1 provides an introduction to Executive Coaching through exploring the concepts and practices most commonly used in professional practice;
Module 2 provides an introduction to Executive Coaching through exploring and examining the perspectives most commonly used in guiding and analysing professional practice;
Module 3 aims to broaden and deepen mastery of executive coaching by exploring Professional Practice, Continued Professional and self Development, Business Development, Professional Discipline and Professional Citizenship.
Modules 1 and 2 each involve two periods of weekend study. Module 3, which is a double module, involves a pre-residential day event, a 3-day residential event, and a post-residential day event. All the residential events will be held in Glasgow.
The overall aim is to promote and advance understanding by integrating action and reflection in a wide range of ways. Participants will therefore be assessed using a range of methods, not examinations, with the emphasis on demonstrating through personal investigation and reflection learning around a wide range of concepts and theories.

Course Directors *
The programme is organised and delivered by a partnership of people from within the Strathclyde Business School and Professional practice in coaching. It is managed by the Centre for Lifelong Learning at the University of Strathclyde. The main tutors are:
Dr Stephen Gibb FCIPD
Dr Gibb is renowned and active as a researcher and teacher in coaching and mentoring. He is author of texts and research articles in Human Resource Development and an experienced postgraduate course organizer. He is responsible for the academic quality and experience of this programme as a whole, as well as teaching on it.
Peter Hill, MCIPD, FInstLM
Peter Hill is author of Concepts of Coaching. He has been working in the field of Executive Coaching for the past eight years and in the field of Human Resource Development for the past 15 years. He is the Managing Partner of CFM Consulting Ltd., a global company specialising in coaching, its development and the qualificationswithin the coaching fraternity. He is responsible for the professional quality of the programme, and will be the lead tutor in key parts of the programme.
