Background

My professional background lies in leadership and management.

I have 20 years leadership experience, including 7 years as a member of Standard Life’s Global Executive Leadership Team, during which time I served as a Director of a market-leading and award-winning UK Customer Service operation. I previously held senior leadership positions in areas as diverse as HR, IT, Logistics and Organisational Change.

I am also a Non Executive Director and Chairman of the Board of Edinburgh Leisure, a Charitable Trust with over 700 employees and £24m turnover. I performance manage and coach the Chief Executive, chair the Trust’s Remuneration Committee and have previously served on the Finance and Audit Committees. I have been a Director since 2004.

Over the last 15 years, I’ve applied what I’ve learned through this rich and diverse range of Executive and Board level leadership experiences with my skills and knowledge in training and development to sponsor, advise on, lead, design, facilitate and deliver Organisational Change, Performance Management and Leadership Development programmes for teams and individuals.

I now sit "on the other side of the table" and consult in these areas for a range of organisations and industry sectors across the UK, Europe and Middle East.

What Inspired You To Go Into Coaching?

It has been my privilege to lead and advise executives and senior professionals in small, medium, large and global organisations, across both the private and public sectors and in the UK and Europe and I suppose I rather stumbled into coaching 15 years ago when I realised that helping people find their own solutions was more rewarding and less risky than having them listen to and follow my advice!

Key Qualifications & Training

I am a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. I also hold the Professional Certificate in Management.

Specialist Areas of Coaching

I am most "at home" when coaching in the areas of performance management, leadership, communicating, influencing and change.

Greatest Coaching Moment

Every time I see someone’s eyes sparkle at the revelation of a powerful insight or hear them remark that they are excited about, and committed to, a practical every day improvement to the way they live and work, I am having "my greatest coaching moment".

What Is Your Vision For Your Coaching?

If my coaching can assist, empower and enthuse individuals to express their true selves and to use their true gifts and talents in ways which see business done with integrity, customer focus and a genuine desire to serve society, I’ll consider my efforts to have been a job well done.

I would describe myself and having a head for a business and a heart for seeing people fulfil their potential. I believe passionately in the power of effective conversation in building great relationships, achieving results and growing as an individual, both professionally and personally.
